Martyr Pilot Ali Akbar Shiroudi

Navideshahed: April 27 is the 31st martyrdom anniversary of pilot Ali Akbar Shiroodi (1955-1981). He was one of the pilots who had the highest number of flights in the world. He defended the Iranian territories during the initial years of Iran-Iraq war era.

According to Navideshahed, Ali Akbar Ghorban Shiroodi was born in 1955 in Bala Shirood village located in Tankabon city.

When Shiroodi accomplished his high school, he entered the Army in 1972 and after passing the initial term of pilot and the Kubra helicopter pilot; he graduated with the ranking of assistant lieutenant.

He played a significant role in Kermanshah when Imam Khomeini returned to Iran and he was the supervisor of detection and protection group of Kermanshah city.

After the Islamic Revolution, Shiroodi was one of the founders of Islamic Committee in Kermanshah province.

When the Iran-Iraq war started, he was not away from the battlefields for a moment and his helicopter was attacked by the Saddam’s occupying forces several times.

Ali Akbar Ghorban Shiroodi by having the highest number of military flight in the war had made the western war zone as a place for his flights and he would fight against the enemy so hardly.

Pilot Shiroodi was martyred in 1982 in Ghare Balagh located in Zahab desert after damaging several tanks of Iraqi Baathist regime. In fact his helicopter was shot by the enemy and he was martyred.
