In the evening of September 22, 1980, the Iraqis attacked Khorramshahr and they were confident that by two battalion of forces within 24 hours they can capture the city and after that through the Zolfaghar bridge to have access to Abadan city and to arrive to Ahvaz within a short period of time and to separate Khuzistan from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

But the enemy faced with the strong resistance of Khorramshahr people and they had to station much of their military power (more than two armies) in this place and to be delayed for 45 days and eventually after passing from the two bridges of Karoon and Bahmanshir, they got the control of Abadan city.

Martyr Jan Ara regarding one of the scenes of this Ashurayee epic says:

“We did not have any hope to survive. We could see the death. The war veterans would express the religious sentences before their martyrdom by the wireless systems and someone else would write them down on the other side of the wireless system. It was a painful scene. The war veterans wanted to shoot, I said since we are going to get martyred, so let us to kill some of them and then to die. The tanks were opening fire towards the surrounding areas and they would advance. When they reached to a distance of 150 meters away from me, I demanded to open fire towards them. We had four R.P.G bullets. When one of the war veterans stood up of the trench, he shot one of the tanks down. The second one was retreating that it hit the wall of houses located in the port. The commandership car was moving by reversing gear towards the boulevard, when I saw that the tank was retreating, I stood up and I shouted ‘Allah O Akbar, Allah O Akbar’ (God is great), attack; suddenly the enemy forces escaped…

At 19:30 on Tuesday, September 28, 1981 after the military operation ‘Samen Al-Aameh’ a plane C-130 was moving from Ahvaz to Tehran in order to take the injured patients and pure bodies of martyrs to their families and hospitals, but it faced with a problem and crushed in Kahrizak area of Tehran.
