Making better Uses of the Veteran Women’s Capabilities and Removing the Obstacles in the way of the Competent
What follows is an emphasis on the leading role of women especially the veterans and the literate ones in the families and society, the equality of faith and achieving the highest apexes of serving God. Whoever does godly and good deeds, be it male or female, will be considered as believers.
What this essay will deal with are demanding the fulfillment of women's rights, the attention of the statesmen and those who are in high positions in our Islamic country to the position of women and their Godly stance especially the issue of their employment; women should not take their duties at home as wives and mothers for granted due to their working out. Our late supreme leader Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic republic of Iran, in addition to emphasizing that having appropriate jobs is good for women, says: during the Shah's regime they tried to separate children from their mothers and they were forced into believing that taking care of children is nothing; they enticed them to come to the offices an this was the cause of many corruptions.
Those who are responsible for the employment issue of women should have this point in mind that the view point of our Islamic society is radically different with that of the western societies. In western countries women have to work similar to men but in the Islamic Iran, because it is the duty of man to provide his family with their needs and because of the traditional and cultural context of our society, women's employment is not a necessity. Women, because of their being responsible for bringing up human beings, have leading roles in moving towards perfection and men are responsible to provide their wives and families with their daily requirements.
Another important point to be mentioned here is that in our society women can take pregnancy days off while they still get their payments, they can also take 1/ 3 of their working days off while they would get their full payment but they are exempt from taking some jobs which need great physical energy and these the westerners think are bias. In addition it should be said that in spite of all the measures that have been taken our women have not still got their appropriate position. Still we see that there are a special kind of work division between men and women and their employment in the agriculture, husbandry, and works as such is because they are easily taught and in some cases division of work has a custom or social base. Usually the higher positions and managerial position are reserved for men and except for some exceptions women are biased against. In some countries such as Austria women are prevented from taking part in the army and works as such but in most of the countries it is now normal for women to work in the army. In the past men could prevent women from taking a job but this law was negated in 1385.
In our countries after the revolution women were employed in healthcare centers, cultural, educational, research, serving, and judiciary as well as in the police businesses. Now we to think about letting them activate their natural capabilities. In addition Islam has insisted on the material independence women and their presence in society. We are the follower of the heavenly book that says: women and men can be benefited by what they get. The wealth of Khadijeh (Prophet Muhammad's wife) which has been gathered in business became a great support for Islam.
There is an Ayah on the coalition of Prophet Muhammad with women and it has a special importance in politics and social affairs. The prime example of women's presence in the society is the speech that her holiness Zahra (S. A.) in the Karbala Mosque among the Muslims; as it was mentioned before there have been great efforts for the better being of women's condition but still they have not achieved their proper position because there have been some obstacle both on the part of women and others to which I will refer to some in what follows.
1. Women are assessed by the same measures with which men are evaluated and this decreases their self confidence.
2. Basically those who can be good managers should have experienced great arenas and because women were kept in the margins in the past and were bereft of their primary rights they are not now experienced in this regard.
3. The dominance of men; for example some men think that since women are responsible for family and are both mothers and wives, they can not be good managers. This has drawn them to the margins.
4. Inappropriate supposition about the value of women and their independence has caused them not to be accepted as competent and this was predominant in the past.
5. Wrong suppositions about manager; a manager should be rough and angry. This supposition was dominant in the past
6. Wrong suppositions about manager and more is the inappropriateness of the society with the position of Muslim women in the period before the Islamic Republic and other factors like these has kept women in the margins and prevented them from taking leading roles in the society.
In any way it should be said that giving key managerial position to women will have great effects on the culture of the society and will alter their wrong suppositions. Therefore treatment, behaviors and performances and activities have messages which are regarded to be highly effective in creating more effective culture.
If women are employed based on their capabilities, they can be creative and highly effective in positions and environments which are to find information or in positions which is are decisive. They can let society be benefited by their scientific, political, cultural and social capabilities. They are able to take hold of great executive tasks. In addition it should be said that women usually do not abuse their positions and this possibility is so little on their parts. They have showed that they are more meticulous and capable than men in accepting a position and keeping the affairs safe and secure.
In the end in addition to considering the key role of women in the family and avoiding to look at women as sexual materials in giving the social positions and strengthening their participation in the political, social, and cultural issue, hereby I want to highlight some points:
1. Strengthening the thinking and worth bases and developing their capabilities and activities in order to prepare them to take higher social positions.
2. Developing the participation of the women in different stages by giving them positions and developing their sense of taking responsibility in order to let them achieve their natural rights.
3. Creating high level of enticement in women in order to bring forth their capabilities and their proper talents and preparing the way so that they fulfill their missions and to perform their duties.
4. Women employment and attending useful and effective social activities which can be useful in the growth of the economy of the country.
5. Giving high and good positions to professional and capable women and letting the society to be benefited by them.
6. Creating a sense of self confidence in women to increase their personal, social, political, economical and scientific as well as cultural capabilities.
